“The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace”
The 5 Love Languages® were developed by Gary Chapman. He later teamed up with psychologist Paul White and together they researched how the five love languages might apply to work-based relationships, particularly focusing on appreciation, and developed the Motivating By Appreciation (MBA) Inventory. The book covers the languages of appreciation in great depth and is a valuable resource for any team. It includes a complimentary MBA Inventory Access Code.
“The 5 Love Languages”
The 5 Love Languages® were developed by Gary Chapman as a marriage counselor when he observed that different people express and receive love differently. When two people who love each other have significantly different love languages, it can cause serious friction and misunderstanding in their relationship, often resulting in emotional distance or even separation. This is a great book for learning about the Love Languages, and includes an assessment at the end to discover yours, and those of your loved ones.
“The 5 Apology Languages”
Gary Chapman continued his observations of people’s relationship behaviors, and teamed up with Jennifer Thomas to develop The 5 Apology Languages® when they realized different people express and receive apologies differently as well. When two people have significantly different apology languages, it can mean apologies don’t land which results in resentment and distance. This is a great book for learning about the Apology Languages, and includes an assessment at the end to discover yours, and those of your loved ones.
Understanding our Brains
“The Female Brain” and “The Male Brain” are both written by endocrinologist Louann Brizendine, and detail the differences in brain reactions and responses as determined by the hormonal patterns specific to male and female development from birth, through childhood and adolescence and into adulthood. They are well written and can help understand some distinct differences in how hormones cause male brains and female brains to have different desires and responses.
